Facilities

Our advanced physics laboratories are well equipped for a variety of projects for students.
Telescope
Through a second grant from NSF, the physics department houses a state of the art X-ray Diffractometer. And through a grant from the department of education, the physics department houses a laser apparatus equipped with a powerful Nd-Yag laser. The department houses a time of flight mass spectrometer, a Mössbauer spectrometer, and a Hall Effect apparatus with four- point probe measurements system.

The department houses a planetarium in addition to a newly upgraded 16-inch telescope equipped with an older model CCD camera. The telescope upgrade completed in 2006 included new pointing and tracking systems as well as physical replacement of the stepper motors. These upgrades will allow us to point and track astronomical targets with the precision needed to conduct true scientific research in astronomy.
